Eligibility criteria
- The Saudi driving licence must be valid for at least 6 months.
- Issuance is limited to citizens and residents of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia only.
- Applicants must have no outstanding traffic violations.
- The IDL is valid for one year from the date of issue.

No. The permit does not replace your Saudi driving licence. Carry both documents when driving abroad and follow your destination country’s rules.
No. The IDL is valid for one year from the date of issue and cannot be issued for a longer period.
A replacement with the same serial number is not available. You may apply for a new document, subject to applicable fees.
Acceptance rules vary by destination and rental company. Check the requirements before travelling. You may also drive your own vehicle or a first-degree relative’s vehicle while abroad, subject to local rules.
No. The IDL does not provide insurance. You may purchase suitable cover separately from insurers or automobile clubs.
Renewal is not available. If your Saudi licence is still valid, you may apply for a new IDL online; international shipping may be available for an additional fee.
